Turning 33 Today

Today, I turned 33!

Nothing really fancy happened...no surprises, no celebrations to speak with but not at all crappy . I guess, when we add more years to our age, we don't feel very excited about it. But with facebook, everybody remembers your birthday and you could just imagine the overflow of greetings in my FB Wall. I feel very blessed having friends from everywhere. I know I am always noted for being maldita and snob but I think people have look past the tiger looks. They realized that I am really a nice person thus the greetings.

I posted in FB Timeline "Do not regret growing older. It's a privilege denied to many. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SELF!!!"

TRUE...we should be happy to add another year to our age instead of complaining that we're way past the calendar. Come to think of it, the other side of the coin, which is death, is not at all that exciting. Okay, before I go morbid with this post allow me to share how I spent my 12, 405 days on earth.

Since I was on birthday leave, I had several plans on how to spent the day.

I wanted to use the Club Ultima gift certificates that Ms. O gave me but they're quite full this day. So, I just tagged along hubby who was looking for a laptop to buy. He treated me to a simple lunch at Ted's Batchoy...yeah, I'm low maintenance like that!

Then after getting the doc stamps from the ever trusty Junbelle, hubby brought me to LTO Cebu City so I could finally pick-up Magee's driver's license certificate. Then I passed by Sto. Rosario Church to say thank you to Jesus for another year, for the many blessings and for pampering me all these years.

At 3pm, I've got nothing more to do so I went straight to my granny's house (husband's grandfather) in Mambaling to have my curls re-touched by Ronel. I just keep mum about my birthday so they never know.

Here's the result...

Finally took the leap to transform my hair from the boring straight to these sexy curls. I just don't know until when the curls will stay. I hope it stays for long so I get to enjoy this new look quite longer...

My husband and I stayed a bit at his grandfather's house. After granny's stayed in ICU for a month, we make it a point to visit him now that he's finally home-confined.

When we reached home past 11pm, we were met by this poster in our wall...and with that my birthday is already complete!

Cebu City Marathon 2012

Exactly one year ago, I fulfilled my dream of running in one of Cebu's biggest marathons. I was running 5k  together with my husband back then . This year, we took the challenge once more with me running alongside my 9-year old daughter Alex, my sister-in-law Hazel and some friends still at 5k. My husband took the biggest leap together with some IGAT Runners running their first full marathon. Alex and I arrived at the finish line holding hands at exactly 1 hour - my record last year was 44:22 minutes. Well, we had more walk than run this time since Alex was complaining every now and then. It's her first 5k so poor little girl...but we still finished the race. And we had more fun which is really the most important thing.

Now, going back to my husband...I was worried sick about him. I know he didn't have that much practice and his last race was in November at 21k. But his record was just amazing for a first timer. He finished off at 5 hours 46 minutes with no injury at all and still standing. Tough guy, indeed! He's now a certified marathoner.

I wish I could do the same...level up a bit probably to 10k first then 21k then 42k. I just need a little push, a motivation. Hopefully in next year's CCM, I wouldn't be stuck at 5k...I still have one year to practice and just push myself to the limit. My husband has been very supportive, buying me running gears and challenging me without fail to aim for longer distance. My enemy is really just myself...so I better start killing this enemy now!

I'm sharing some photos of that Sunday run...

Most Pinoys would choose Hongkong, Singapore or Thailand as their first country of destination.  As for me and my husband, we got our firs...
